Anna M. Cooper Director of Data and Information Systems, Communications Workers of America
Anna recently joined CWA as their first Director of Data and Information Systems, prior to which she worked in Data and Analytics at AFSCME. Before joining Labor, Anna was a member of the Obama Administration in the White House Presidential Personnel Office where she managed technology and operations for political appointments and Senate nominations. Anna's prior background is in electoral campaigns. She joined team data in 2014 on the Senate race in Kentucky, before which she ran record setting voter contact and voter registration program in Virginia and found a knack for rural organizing in her home state of Ohio. Anna trains in mixed martial arts, has great podcast recommendations, and always reads the book for book club. She's proud to have been part of the first Crack the Code in 2016 and is elated for the second iteration. Anna lives in Washington, DC.
Kass DeVorsey Founder, Minerva Insights
Kassia DeVorsey is the CEO and founder of Minerva Insights, a boutique analytics consulting firm based in New York and Washington. She has held leading roles in data and analytics at The Messina Group, BlueLabs, the Democratic National Committee, and President Obama’s 2012 campaign. Kass devotes her spare time to travel, champagne, and accumulating parking tickets.
Bridgit Donnelly Director of Data and Analytics, NYC Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit
Bridgit Donnelly is the Director of Data & Analytics for the NYC Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit. Her team supports proactive, data-driven outreach programs that help New Yorkers acquire city services, such as healthcare and housing resources. Prior to joining city government, Bridgit spent seven years in the political campaign space, most recently for Hillary for America as the data science project manager and head of the early vote data program. She also has run a number of data trainings over the last several years, starting with the New Organizing Institute as their Data Training Manager. Bridgit has an MS in Computational Analysis and Public Policy from the University of Chicago and a BA in Political Science from Barnard University. In her spare time, you’ll find Bridgit cooking her latest Blue Apron meal or traveling and exploring new cities.
Jess Garson Adjunct Professor, New York University
Jessica Garson is a Adjunct Professor at NYU. She’s also the organizer of the Tech Lady Hackathon, and previously the organizer of Hack && Tell DC. She is a frequent teacher at DC's Hear Me Code, beginner friendly classes for women by women and has run programming classes at DC area public libraries. Jessica also runs a self-published programming magazine called What's my Function. In 2015, she was named by DC FemTech as one of the most powerful Women in Tech. In 2017, one of her projects nominateher.org got named best web/mobile product of the year by technical.ly magazine. Previously she’s worked at ISL, Burson-Marstellar, The National Education Association, ISSI Data, and Salsa Labs. Before working in technology, Jessica worked on numerous campaigns throughout the country and got her degree in Political Science at the University of Hartford.
Dessa Gypalo Director of Data Services, NGP VAN / EveryAction
Dessa Gypalo currently serves as the Director of Data Services at NGP VAN / EveryAction. There, her team supports a variety of client initiatives including large scale database migrations, ETL, and data hygiene. Previously, she was the National Data Manager at Enroll America where she built out a data program to connect people to healthcare under Obamacare (ACA). Over the last decade, Dessa has worked local to national level political campaigns and as well as provided data support for numerous non-profit organizations. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her dogs, creating feminist art, and listening to more NPR than is socially acceptable.
Cristina Sinclaire Senior Vice President, Clarity Campaign Labs
Cristina Sinclaire recently joined Clarity Campaign Labs bringing high-quality analytics to campaigns and organizations of all sizes. Previously she served as Director of Client Services at Catalist, the progressive movement's data utility. Prior to that she researched voting laws and built civic data tools at the New Organizing Institute. She has managed electoral campaigns and organized communities from California to South Africa. She sits on the Boards of National Public Radio, the Center for Technology and Civic Life, the Alliance for CHANGE, and the Earthward Bound Foundation. In her spare time Cristina travels, plays cribbage, dances and chases her next favorite meal.
Annie J. Wang Student, Yale Law School
Annie J. Wang is a first-year student at the Yale Law School. Before law school, Annie served as the Director of Research and Analytics at the Analyst Institute where she led a team of seven analysts to conduct over 100 field experiments related to voter behavior and public opinion. Previously, she was a Senior Data Scientist at Civis Analytics. Annie is a frequent speaker at political conferences and received a Rising Star award from Campaigns and Elections magazine.
A passionate supporter of increasing opportunities for underrepresented groups in progressive technology, Annie co-founded Progressive Data Jobs to aggregate job postings and wrote a guide for job-seekers in progressive analytics. She has also run the Progressive Data, Analytics, and Technology Salary Survey for the last two years.
Maya Yair Digital Data Manager, Indivisible
Maya Yair is the Digital Data Manager at Indivisible, where she enhances digital communications with analytics and testing. Previously she served as an Analyst and Associate Strategist at Analyst Institute. Maya's roots are in electoral campaigns, where she has worked in organizing and development roles. In her spare time, she can be found taking on demanding cooking projects and hanging out with her cat.
